Heritage Trails are a way of encouraging people to get the best out of visiting environments of particular cultural, natural, social and historical interest. A trail can be designed to assist people visiting a single building or location.

Over the past few years we have seen QR codes (quick reaction) used frequently in trail design. They are a good way for generating direct links to webpages, mapping or social media sites. They are a very useful aid to get this information to the visitor; we have developed trails with NFC (near field commendation) to enhance this experience.

With NFC stickers attached to locations, information signage or even a window at a site of interest the information on these can be changed frequently by you to provide up to date information. The NFC information is the same as a QR code but has the ability to store more information and interact with the user's phone, e.g. log into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

AR (augmented reality) has become a great platform for the visitor to gain even more information, by means of experiencing video & audio content directly onto their smart devices. We see this as a fully interactive way to give the visitor the story in a way other than words and still images. AR requires a mobile or Wi-Fi connection to work correctly, unlike QR & NFC which can give information directly onto the phone without any signal. AR can be integrated into any mobile application and the content can be designed on any subject from 3D modelling of myths & legend creatures to a simple audio or video presentation.

We are now looking at using IBeacon to implement tiggers into our newest trails.

`

Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data.

iBeacon is the name for Apple's technology standard, which allows Mobile Apps (running on both iOS and Android devices) to listen for signals from beacons in the physical world and react accordingly.

Having written a considerable number of treasure hunts for events, we are confident that we can produce a great product to suit your event and provide a data collection of users once completed. From Easter to Halloween, Pirates to Vikings and Buried Treasure to Teddy Bears' Picnic, we can provide you with a great package to suit all your customer needs.

We can come along and run the event for you; this would include the trail writing service, printing and setting up the treasure hunt. The route we use can either go around trade stands on site or take visitors to hidden areas around the site. If in an urban area we can create unique objects to be positioned in local business or places of interest.

The design of the treasure hunt will be bespoke for your event, we can include QR (quick reaction) codes NFC (near field communication) stickers or add some AR (augmented reality) to enhance the visitors' experience. These can be easily added to any route and provide the user with a lot more information, social media content and audio or video clips, giving you a data collection of uses.
